We stuck to last weeks menu perfectly! A first for us I think.
What I'm working with this week: No leftovers to speak of. Cabbage. And a request for more greens.
As usual, if no vegetables are in the menu there is a raw vegetable platter served with dinner. And I add $2 onto the cost of the dinner for the platter (with dressing). And I always keep homemade rolls around. They cost me less than .35 to make the whole batch and it lasts for several days.
Monday - Linguini (low glycemic index) with homemade pesto and marinara. $8.50
Tuesday - Tenderloin end pieces (we got a great deal on a whole tenderloin a while back) cooked in the crockpot with carrots, onion and potatoes. $12
Wednesday - Dinner at Bible Study. Theme - "Casseroles" I'll make some type of (free from the garden) vegetable casserole because we live a good little drive from the church and I don't like trying to transport meat. ~$2
Thursday - Leftover beef and vegetables burritos with salad fixins. Sauteed cabbage. $4.25
Friday - Stir fry chicken with root vegetables. Turnip greens. $7.50
Total for the the work week - $34.25

I am so impressed with the money you save!! delicious meal plan too.
Wow! I'm impressed, too. That inexpensive, AND with tenderloin on your menu! :)
Do you share your recipe for the homemade rolls?
Sharon, thank you! People think I'm nuts initially when I tell them I've cooked tenderloin in a crockpot, but it's the fatty end pieces and it comes out like very tender roast pieces with incredible flavor.
The rolls are a very basic white bread recipe. I'll be making more in a day or so and I'd love to share the recipe (and maybe some pictures), with the breakdown in costs!
Sounds good, I like how you are adding the costs to the meals.

Your menu looks great! Do you use Dreamfield's pasta?
Totally OT, but I wanted to tell you that Ashley has become much more independent in her school work because of you! Somewhere near the beginning of the school year you wrote that (you and) your daughter were over your tears about the new middle-school workload. I read that several weeks ago and thought, "It's ok if she cries!" And she did, but she stopped and settled down and now gets the work done! Cheerfully! (A requirement around here) She's happier, and goodness knows so am I! Thank you!
Lori, it helps me to keep my spending under control...a little anyway. :)
Mary, I do use Dreamfield pasta. I have to order it because no place here sells it anymore that I can find. I get it from netrition.com.
I can't tell you how happy I am about your daughter! But don't give me any credit, really. All of my girls have went through that really hard transition from elementary to middle school. I'd just forgotten how miserable it was until they get over that hump.
Michelle, Thanks for continuing to come to my site and comment - you are a real encouragement to me!
